Bible Reading: Psalm 50; Revelation 7:9-17
“And cried with a loud voice, saying, salvation to our God which sitteth upon the throne, and unto the lamb” – Revelation 7:10 (KJV).
No man has the power to save himself from sin and from the consequences of sin or the fall. The whole human race would have been doomed for life but for God’s loving intervention. Neither money nor material possession can save man. The blood of bulls and rams could not save man from the powers of sin and satan. Seeing that man cannot save himself, God in his mercy and love became the saviour. The lawgiver took the place of the lawbreaker; the creator took the place of the creations so he can bring salvation from sin and its consequences.
God sent his only begotten son to die for man to provide salvation. “They that trust in their wealth and boast themselves in the multitude of their riches; none of them can by any means redeem his brother, nor give to God a ransom for him: (for the redemption of their soul is precious, and it ceaseth for ever:)” Psalm 49:6-8 (KJV). It cost God his one and only begotten son, it cost Jesus the very last drop of his blood to purchase salvation for mankind. “For as much as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver or gold, from your vain conversation received by traditions from your fathers; but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot” – 1 Peter 1:18-19 (KJV). Only God has what it takes to save man. He satisfied the demands of justice, love and mercy to save man. Salvation is of the Lord; it is his power that saves. “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved” Acts 4:12 (KJV). Salvation is only in the name of Jesus through faith in the gospel.
The responsibility is on the Christian to preach the gospel. “How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher?” Romans 10:14 (KJV). It is the responsibility of the sinner to believe and respond to the gospel. “For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation” Romans 10:10 (KJV).
PRAYER: Dear Lord, open the hearts of sinner to believe.
