Bible Reading: Psalm 52; Revelation 9:1-10
“And in those days shall men seek death, and shall not find it; and shall desire to die, and death shall flee from them” – Revelation 9:6 (KJV).
In this side of eternity, death is a great threat. People dread death. It is a topic people try to evade and an issue people seldom prepare for, especially when it has to do with the person concerned. One can freely talk of the death of another but may not have the courage to talk of one’s death. Worse still is wishing for death. In some rare cases, where a person is bedridden for months or years with severe pains one could wish for death to relieve one of the pains or to free family members and loved ones from grief and unpleasant situations.
To talk of death and even young people wishing for death at an age they should be having fun is something to seriously look into. Such condition that will make every living to seek for death is an unpalatable and pathetic one. To make it worse, the bible says that death shall flee from them. Death being their preferred option will not be actualized.
This scenario is the true picture of a time in the last day, the tribulation period when God will pour out his wrath. It will be so terrible for everyone who has not received Jesus as Lord and saviour. The God of mercy and love will reveal his other side as a consuming fire and God that punishes sin. Where man continues to reject the love and mercy of God, he will eventually face the wrath of God. “It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God” – Hebrews 10:31 (KJV). This is only the beginning of sorrows because the lake of fire awaits everyone that rejects the love of God. It will be a place and a time of eternal agony. Sinners will suffer in the lake of fire forever and ever, where worms will be feasting on them but even the worms will not die. Men will gnash their teeth forever in hell. On the contrary, the true Christians will be with Jesus in heaven for ever and ever. “For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ” – 1 Thessalonians 5:9 (KJV).
Accept Jesus while the offer lasts.
Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you for saving my soul.
