Bible Reading: Numbers 7&8; Mark 4:21-43
“And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, peace be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm” – Mark 4:39 (KJV).
Peace is a virtue that everyone craves for. Peace with God, peace with people, peaceful environment and peaceful society are very essential for a healthy life. So many factors contest for our peace in the world we live in. One cannot truly enjoy peace until one makes peace with God. You cannot give what you do not have. Thus, the beginning of a peaceful life is peace with God. “Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ” – Romans 5:1 (KJV).
Jesus is the source of true and lasting peace. He came to give us peace with God, to enable us be at peace with ourselves and empower us to create a peaceful world by calming ragging storms. Jesus came into the world to establish peace with the father and to give man rest. The chastisement of our peace was upon him. “For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us” – Ephesians 2:14 (KJV).
Jesus equally came to bring all creation to be subject to the believer in Christ. When one is born again, dominion and authority are restored to him. Jesus demonstrated this authority by calming the ragging storm. He spoke peace to the wind and the sea and they became calm. To exercise peace or command peace in your environment, one must first have inner peace. This inner peace is a product of faith in God. It is inner assurance that God is in charge. Jesus could sleep even in the midst of storm because he knew he is secured in the father’s love. The disciples were troubled because they lacked faith in God. We activate our faith by speaking to ragging storms with confidence in the father’s love and commitment. Every storm will obey the voice of faith. Believers have authority to calm every ragging storm in their lives and their community.
PRAYER: I calm every ragging storm in my life in Jesus name.
