Bible Reading: Deut. 5,6,7; Mark: 11:1-17
“Know therefore that the LORD thy God, he is God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations;” – Deuteronomy 7:9(KJV)
God remains a faithful God, eternally abiding and never failing in His promises. The promises of God cannot be broken for it is fortified and backed with His eternal divine power. When the Almighty declares a thing no existing force or power can stop it from coming to pass. Moses, the great servant of God, declares concerning God in this manner: He is God. This connotes certainty and finality on the personality of our God. It means that He is God and beside Him there is no other God. It means He is the fullness of the Godhead. He is the all-powerful and all mighty. This is proclaimed in Psalm 62:11 (KJV) “God hath spoken once; twice have I heard this; that power belongeth unto God”. He is the custodian of all powers and possesses all might.
Our God is the all-knowing God. He is the head of all principalities and powers, authorities and dominion. That was what Moses was conveying to Israel to know their God, that He is God. Moses also declare that God is ‘The Faithful God’. Actually our God is eternally faithful, ever abiding and reliable. He is the unchangeable God. What He says He will do He will do. His words carry eternal value and cannot be broken. God cannot lie and cannot go back to His word. Our God is so faithful and can be relied on. His promises are eternal and dependable. He cannot change, so also are His words. Moses also declare Him to be a “covenant Keeper and a merciful God.” What can be more true than this! Our God is a covenant keeping God. God works by His covenant with man. He remains faithful to His covenant terms. Our God is ever merciful, showing mercy to them that love him and keep His commandments to a thousand generations.
My dear reader I am inviting you to run to this ever merciful, ever reliable and all powerful God. You need Him for preservation and sustenance in this perilous and wicked world we dwell in. God’s love and faithfulness can be relied on for effective and peaceful living.
Prayer: Father, give me the grace to continuously rely on your eternal covenant of love and mercy.
