Bible Reading: Deut. 8,9,10. Mark: 11:18-33
“But thou shall remember the LORD thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day” – Deuteronomy 8:18 (KJV)
Covenant is defined by the English dictionary as “a pact or binding agreement between two or more parties”. Most times a covenant is sealed by an oath or by blood. God’s covenant with father Abraham was sealed by an oath: “For when God made promise to Abraham, because he could swear by no greater, sware by himself, Saying, surely blessing I will bless thee and multiplying I will multiply thee. For men verily swear by the greater: and an oath for confirmation is to them an end of all strife” – Hebrew 6:13,14 &16 (KJV).
The issue of prosperity in the kingdom is purely a covenant practice, more than prayer and fasting. From the above scripture of discourse, it so evident that God gives the power to get wealth based on His covenant terms with us. God’s covenant with man is an oath, which when religiously followed produces all the desired result expected from such covenant. Wealth is one of those results of the application of the covenant terms with God. From God’s side of his covenant is constant and unbreakable. The reason for our not being recipient of the result of our covenant with God is because our being unfaithful in keeping to the covenant terms. Wealth is activated via covenant practice, so we can say that wealth is embedded in our covenant and it is activated by keeping to the covenant terms. In 2 Corinthians 9:6-7 (KJV), “But this I say, he which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly, and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully. Every man accordingly as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.” These are covenant terms that when properly understood and applied by a believer will result in what the scripture of the day meant by ‘remember the LORD thy God: for it is He that gives thee power to get wealth’. That power to get wealth is what the scriptures expounded in 2 Corinthians 9:8(KJV) “And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work”
So my dear readers, when we abide in Christ and stay on the covenant terms God is under oath to fulfil His own side of the eternal covenant that is sealed by His Son. “For we know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for our sake became, that ye through his poverty might be rich”
Prayer: Father give me grace to abide perpetually in your covenant.
