Bible Reading: Judges 16, 17 & 18. Luke 7:1-25
“And she said, The Philistines be upon thee, Samson. And he awoke out of his sleep, and said, I will go out as at other times before, and shake myself. And he wist not that the Lord was departed from him.” -Judges 16:20 (KJV)
The life of Samson is the way a number of Christians live these days. You are empowered by the Spirit of God and so you can do several things. Several, therefore, continue to live in sin expecting grace to abound. But Romans 6:1-2 (KJV) asks “What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?”
Just like Samson, because you have been committing some sins and appear to be getting away with it does not imply that God has given you Liberty for sin. One day there will be a turning point when the grace will no longer be there. This is what happened to Samson in Judges 16:20 (KJV), “And she said, The Philistines be upon thee, Samson. And he awoke out of his sleep, and said, I will go out as at other times before, and shake myself. And he wist not that the Lord was departed from him.” David understood this well and he stated it clearly in Psalm 51:11-12 (KJV), “Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me. [12] Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.”
The beauty of God’s love, however, is that even in your state of helplessness, (if the Spirit has been taken from you) you can get it back. All you need is to make up your mind to return to God and serve him, he will restore the Spirit unto you just like the hair of Samson grew again and he got the power restored! So you can experience a positive turnaround again and he is always ready to receive repentant sinners like the come back of the prodigal son in Luke 15:20(KJV) “And he arose, and came to his father. But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him.” So is the Lord ready to welcome everyone that is repentant and willing to come back genuinely. It does not matter how long gone you are in faith whether a pastor, an apostle, a general overseer, he is ready to restore you and take you away from the path of dishonour to the way of Glory. If you are a Christian and you are not experiencing newness in the way of your life, you need to reexamine your ways to ensure its in line with the will of God because 2 Corinthians 5:17 (KJV) says; “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”
Prayer point: Father let me experience newness in every area of my life from today in Jesus name.
