Bible Reading: 1 Kings 19, 20; Luke 23: 1-28
“And he arose, and did eat and drink, and went in the strength of that meat forty days and forty nights unto Horeb the mount of God” – 1 kings 19:8(KJV)
One hymn says:
“Christian seek not yet repose,
Cast thy dreams of ease away:
Thou art in the midst of foes
Watch and pray.
Principalities and powers
Mustering their unseen array
Thou art in the midst of foes
Watch and pray.
Each child of God should never let off his guide in this passing world. Your victory per time attracts further threat from the Jezebel-like people in the world as it happened in the days of old. After engaging in battle with the prophets of Baal by Elijah, the report got to Jezebel. Equally, the report of your triumph is daily getting to the enemy of our soul who is scheming hard to attack you. Never rest on your oars at any given recorded victory, rather, refuel and be battle ready for another round.
As Elijah used his sword to slay the enemies of Yahweh, you are also using the sword of the Spirit to wreak havoc in the kingdom of Satan if truly you are a child of God. “And Ahab told Jezebel all that Elijah had done, and withal how he had slain all the prophets by the sword. Then Jezebel sent a messenger unto Elijah, saying, so let the gods do to me, and more also, if I make not thy life as the life of one of them by to-morrow” – 1 Kings 19:1-2 (KJV). The fear of Jezebel made Elijah flee for his life. After a fierce battle, depression may set in especially when there is a fight back from the evil force vv. 3-4
However, at that low moment of confusion, God is ever near to calm the raging storm because you are dear to Him and in His agenda. While the weary prophet got to a place, he complained to God and in the midst of it, he slept off. At that point the angel touched him and gave him portion of the food to eat which gave strength to still go far vv.5-8. Are you currently exhausted in the service of the Master? Divine touch is available for you.
Prayer Point: Dear Lord, help me not to go weary in the face of battle of life in Jesus name.
