…Spreading the gospel of Christ

WORD MEDITATION: 10/05/2019

Bible Reading: II Kings 10, 11, 12; John 1:27-51.

“But Jehosheba, the daughter of king Joram, sister of Ahaziah, took Joash the son of Ahaziah, and stole him from among the king’s sons which were slain; and they hid him, even him and his nurse, in the bedchamber from Athaliah, so that he was not slain.” – 2 Kings 11:2 (KJV)

The world is indeed a place of contest where some wicked souls conclude that survival or reigning is by elimination. As a result of this, many innocent lives have been to this capricious attitude. Some who survived being killed, are battling with irrecoverable sicknesses which has again made them impotent to fulfil their destiny.
The passage under consideration reveals the unfortunate behaviour of a woman called Athaliah. She was the daughter of Ahab and Jezebel. No sooner that her son died, she usurped power. The Scripture says: “And when Athaliah the mother of Ahaziah saw that her son was dead, she arose and destroyed all the seed royal.” – Kings 11;1 (KJV). What was the reason for this nefarious action? She did not want them to reign. Meanwhile, in the midst of this chaotic disorder, God strategically positioned Jehosheba, the daughter of king Joram, sister of Ahaziah to save the life Joash

No one knows where Joash was kept for good six years and that was the period when Athaliah was reigning as a Queen whose approval was not from God. However, at the seventh year Jehoiada, a priest who was the husband of Jehosheba whom God used to preserve the life of Joash called for the rulers over hundreds, with the captains of the guard, and brought them to him into the house of the LORD and made a covenant with them, and took an oath of them in the house of the LORD, and showed them the king’s son. The priest perhaps wanted to prevent betrayal of trust, this was the reason he made them go through the route listed above. He puts structure which would culminate in the anointing of the king in place.

Joash, whose life God preserved, reigned. You should also relax because nothing can eliminate you before your reign. Let no force of Athaliah throw you off balance as you continue your life. Your season of elimination is not now. Joash was brought forth, crowned, given a copy of the covenant, anointed and made king. God shall showcase you against the wish of your enemy just as Athaliah’s intention to wipe out David’s seed was stalled in Jesus name.

Prayer Point: I shall not be eliminated before my exaltation in Jesus name.
