Bible Reading: 2 Kings 19, 20, 21; John 4:1-27
“Now therefore, O LORD our God , I beseech thee, save thou us out of his hand, that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that thou art the LORD God, even thou alone” – 2 Kings 19:19 (KJV)
In life we sometimes come to situation when the contralto or soprano is completely lost. At other times as well, it is difficult to have adequate words to express the depth of the worry that goes on in our heart. No one is outrightly immune from undergoing this kind of experience and it varies in degree from one person to the other. The people in the Bible times provided us the pattern we could follow whenever we found ourselves in a situation beyond expression.
King Hezekiah listened to Rabshakeh who came to Jerusalem at the instance of his master, the king of Assyria who painstakingly delivered the message of threat from his boss just to frighten the king of Jerusalem. These words sunk into the minds of the king and successfully plunged him into confusion. At this, the king did tore his clothes and put on sackcloth. The king though put on the sackcloth but did not sit in his house, rather he did something worthy of emulation by anyone who has come to his wits’ end. What did he do?
He went into the house of the LORD V.1b
He sent messages to the one who could lift his hand at the trying moment.
He prayed when he received letter.
He received assurance of answered prayers.
He reposed his confidence in the LORD based on what the LORD said.
He waited to see the fulfilment of the LORD’S promise over his enemy.
Whatever the situation is now, do not worry, call upon the Lord and He shall deliver you.
Prayer Point: Eternal Father, help me never to throw away my confidence in You in the face of confusion in Jesus Christ name. Amen
