…Spreading the gospel of Christ

WORD MEDITATION: 25/05/2019

Bible Reading: 1 Chronicles 25, 26, 27; John 9:1- 21

“As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world” – John 9:5 (KJV)

The entire world is under the influence of darkness. It appears that the activities of Satan and his cohorts are super imposing themselves on the works of God in the universe and thus making it difficult for the work of God to thrive. However, I need to let us know that, God has never left Himself without a witness to dispel all forms of darkness wherever they are or whenever they surface. As Jesus passed by, He saw a man who was born blind. In the usual assessment and evaluation of a typical human being, whatever unfortunate situation man may suffer it is as a result of sin, the disciples brought up the matter of sin with the Master of the universe, Jesus Christ. They possibly remembered the concept of punishment of iniquity of the father upon the children even to the fourth generation, thus they asked, “…who did sin, this man or his parents that he was born blind? – John 9:2(KJV).

The Saviour corrected this age long erroneous belief that, “Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him” – John 9:3 (KJV). This response from Christ should immediately send to them that not every affliction comes upon man because of sin. Sometimes affliction may be allowed in the life of someone around you simply for the presence of God you carry to be made manifest. As a child of God, you should know that any affliction the Devil may inflict upon those around you is a privilege for you to carry out the work of God in them, never waste such opportunity. The brevity of life should continually send urgency into your spine to get yourself busy as the light wherever you find yourself. The Lord understands this very well, “I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work” – John 9:4 (KJV).

Each of us should always remember that we shall not always be in the day, night must surely come! Infact, each day we spend draws us closer to the impending and unavoidable night. The declaration of Jesus Christ should be ours as well, “As long as I am in the world, I am the Light of the world” – John 9:5 (KJV). Can the above be said of you in your place of work, neighbourhood, etc.? Never allow darkness to thrive wherever you are, confront it and establish the light of Christ always. Shine in the midst of darkness always.

Prayer Point: Use me Lord to destroy every activity of darkness in and around me in Jesus Christ name.
