Bible Reading: 1 Chronicles 28, 29, 24; John 9:22-41
“O LORD our God, all this store that we have prepared to build thee an house for thine holy name cometh of thine hand, and is all thine own.” – 1 Chronicles 29:16 (KJV)
The Word of God covers all aspects of our lives including money and material possessions. None of us should forget that stewardship or all that God kept in our care is inclusive of all God has given to you- your money, talent, experiences, creative ideas, energy, time, spiritual gifts etc. Your entire life is a steward and MUST always resonate in your heart. As a way to know that all that I have are actually kept with me then, I should:
Give generously. This includes all that we know God has given to us freely including our money for the accomplishment of the projects in the house of God.( Luke 6:38, Malachi 3:6-12). How generous are you in giving. Are you not always grumbling whenever a call comes to give in your local assembly?
Give thoughts to your identity as stated in verse 15 and 16. Folks, you are a stranger in this passing world. Having this truth in mind should correct the attitude of greed which controls you and move you to lay your treasures in the place where, regardless of our transitory nature, nothing tampers with it.
Graciously allow God to test your heart. (verses 17-20). If your heart is void of integrity and full of greed, you should allow God to purge it. God is interested in you give willingly whenever opportunity presents itself not out of compulsion.
Release what is kept in your care now, it is meaningless once you are no more.
Prayer Point: O Lord, deliver me from the power of greed and self-centeredness in Jesus name.
