“And when he had sent them away, he departed into a mountain to pray” – Mark 6:46 KJV
There is a common song on prayer among Christians. “Prayer is the key, prayer is the key, prayer is the master key. Jesus started with prayer and ended with prayer. Prayer is the master key. We need to examine the song and pick things of value from it. We all know that key opens doors whether of a house, vehicle, office or where some treasures are kept? Where there are no treasures, we may not care to lock.
The song is therefore telling us that there are treasures that we need to gain access to but the only key needed to do this is prayer. No wonder The bible tells us in 1 Thes 5:17 “pray without ceasing“. This is to ensure we continuously unlock Treasures God has in stock for us.
God clearly shows his wish for us in 3 John 1:2 KJV when He says: “ Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth”.
Let’s look at our passage today, after miraculously feeding five thousand men, Jesus did not go to bed to sleep for he would have been tired like many of us would do after a crusade or church service, rather he went into a private place to pray. Mark 6:46 KJV says “And when he had sent them away, he departed into a mountain to pray”.
It was after the prayer that he walked on the sea and helped them to stop the storm!
If only we would devote much time to prayer, we would be able to resolve most issues and challenge issues spiritually before they occur physically.
Prayer: Father, please give me the grace to pray to you regularly.
