Bible Reading: 11 Chronicles 10, 11, 12; John 11:30- 57
“And it came to pass, when Rehoboam had established the kingdom, and had strengthened himself, he forsook the law of the LORD, and all Israel with him.”
– John 12:1 (KJV)
When the head fails to get it right, it becomes very impossible for the followers to be in sync with the details and mandate of God for their total lives. The true test of a man is known when he maintains the same frequency on integrity check upon assuming certain height he least expected. The society is languishing in untold errors today because of rottenness flowing from the head down to the followers in virtually all the sectors. Sadly, the family of Christ is equally suffering from this malady.
Rehoboam became the King of Judah at the age of forty-one and the anomaly did not show up in his life until he strengthened himself and got established. The Bible puts it this way, “And it came to pass, when Rehobaom had established the kingdom, and had strengthened himself, he forsook the law of the LORD, and all Israel with him” – 2 Chronicles 12:1(KJV). If he was the only one that fell into that error, it would have been minimal but it was not the case. The entire house of Israel also went down with him on the journey of head-on collision with God. What an evil!
Are you going to fall into similar error when God begins to promote you in your place of work? As the husband at home, when you fail to maintain the consistency of the word of God, you are only digging the grave of collapse of your family. As a student in any endeavour, would you not do away with the word of God when you start having some measure of academic breakthrough which would affect you in the long run?
The error committed by this king aroused the anger of God against the house of Judah, who followed him blindly and thus committed grievous error against the Lord! Though God renege on His intended plan to wipe them off when they humbled themselves upon the message they got from prophet Shemaiah but not completely, “And when the LORD saw that they humbled themselves, the word of the LORD came to Shemaiah, saying, they have humbled themselves; therefore I will not destroy them, but I will grant them some deliverance; … Nevertheless they shall be his servants; that they may know my service, and the service of the kingdoms of the countries” – 2 Chronicles 12:7-8 (KJV)
Be careful of your unguarded behaviour, it has a grievous consequence.
Prayer Point: I receive grace never to mislead all the people under my watch in Jesus name.
