Bible Reading: 2 CHRONICLES 23, 24; JOHN 15.
“Abide in me and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can he, except he abide in me” – John 15:4 (KJV).
It is very important for us, Christians, to remain or continue in Christ for us to bear fruit like He did while here on earth. Remember, He says of the believer , “….the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do;…” – John 14:12 (KJV). He converted a lot of people and perform many miracles. He expects us to convert a greater number of people with a greater scope of ministry. But how can these be done?
At salvation, we receive eternal life and power to remain in Christ. However, we have to accept the responsibility to remain in Christ despite all the storms that may come. As we do, the life of Christ continue to flow in us just as the life of the vine flows into the branches attached to it, despite the pull and push from the wind. This life of Christ flows when we continually take in God’s word into our mind and hearts and keep them, letting it guide all our actions. Constantly communing with Christ, living a clean life, and following the leading of the Spirit of God.
Abiding in Christ is God’s wisdom for a fruitful life here on earth as exemplified by Christ Himself who abided in God, and would do nothing except that which the father tells Him to. Whenever Christ commands us to do something it is for our own good. Be determined to remain in Christ till the end.
Prayer: Father, I ask for grace to remain committed to You all through the rest of my life in Jesus name.
