Bible Reading: 2 Chronicles 28,29, John 17.
“I have given them thy Word, and the world hath hated them, because they are not part of the world, even as I am not of the world.” – John 17:14 (KJV)
Shortly before He left the earth, Jesus prayed for His disciples. His disciples are those who hear and listen to His Word, believed His word and continue therein to live by His word. Living by His word has set the world against Christians. The world has its ways different from the original plan of God for man in His Word.
The Word created the world and everything in it, yet this world would do anything, if possible, to silence its maker. Satan, who never creates but makes effort to perverse the things God has created. His goal is to corrupt man and the system that existed. But Jesus came and restored authority back to man and gave man His word to use and dominate these world.
Sadly, the system has been so corrupted that when reminded of the Word of God, it gets angry. Jesus Himself experienced it when He was on earth. However, this did not stop Him from doing the work which He was sent by God. So He prayed for His disciples, who in turn must keep repeating these prayers and do the will of God in this world. Remember, He is the author and finisher of our faith (Hebrew 12:2).
May we continue to share the love of God and all His Son, Jesus, has done. As we do, the world and the system will try to suppress us, but as we stand by His Word in faith, the Word will prevail.
Prayer: Father, I ask for grace to continue in your word for the rest of my life.
