Bible Reading: Nehemiah 1-3; Acts 2:1-23.
“And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance” – Acts 2:4 (KJV).
The promised Holy Spirit upon the disciples came on the day of Pentecost. God’s Word eventually came to pass. The disciples were empowered with cloven tongues like as of fire on each disciples (Acts 2:3), and they supernaturally spoke in languages they didn’t learn before, making multitudes to gather where they were.
This act of speaking in languages they have never learned was supernatural. It was the Spirit who gave them utterance (Acts 2:4). It amazed the multitudes who had gathered. Moreso, Peter, who denied knowing Jesus three times, was supernaturally emboldened by the Spirit to address the multitude that had gathered. Supernatural boldness comes from the Holy Ghost.
Speaking in tongues amazed many in the upper room who were addressed boldly by Peter. We need these boldness and tongues in our mission to spread the gospel around the world. Only by the Spirit of God can we witness effectively in this present world for He is the power we need.
Prayer: Father, thank you for sending us power from above for effective witnessing.
