Bible Reading: Esther 9-10; Acts 6.
“Thus the Jews smote all their enemies with the stroke of the sword, and slaughter and destruction, and did what they would unto those that hated them” – Esther 9:5 (KJV).
Favour is one quality that follows God’s people wherever they go. Favour could be an act of kindness beyond what is due or unusual. It is the approval, support or liking for someone or something. God favoured Joseph and he became a prime minister in the land of slavery. He was blessed by God with the answer to the meaning of a dream dreamt by King Pharoah. This took Joseph to greatness.
God gave the Isrealites favour in the sight of the Egyptians which made them rich overnight (Exodus 12:36). A land where they had lived for many years as slaves, they left with plenty such that they spoiled they spoiled the Egyptians. So favour brings riches.
Favour preserves lives and properties. It preserved the lives of the Jews after Haman had wickedly planned to execute all Jews in the land because Mordecai had refused to bow to him. Jews bow only to God. And the God in heaven, Who looks after His own, favoured Esther before the King, made her Queen, and turned the tables around and Haman, his ten sons and all who hated the Jews were all executed by the Jews on the same day fixed for the execution of the Jews.
Favour is from God. Sometimes, favour makes the happenings around you look unfair to others, but remember, God is not partial. It follows those who believe in God and His son Jesus. It makes great like it did Joseph. It makes rich and also preserves lives. Come to Jesus today if you haven’t and let favour follow you all through.
Prayer: Father, thank you for divine favour in the lives of your people
