Bible Reading: Job 3-4; Acts 7:41-60
“Thy words have upholden him that was falling, and thou hast strengthened the feeble knees” – Job 4:4 (KJV).
There are so many twists and turns in life that we may not fully understand. People go through some challenges and you wonder why, especially when they have helped others in similar situations and now could do nothing about it when it comes to them. This happens to many who counsel people in marriages. The advices they give to people in marital issues seem to suddenly disappear when they needed it the most in their own marital challenge.
Back then in the University I had this young man in my reading group and same level who was very good in economic mathematics. He taught us everything in maths. Yet, when the results come out his is usually among the lowest, far from the marks of those of us he taught. Whenever I asked what happened, he always replied, “only God knows.”
Job has empowered many in difficulty (Job 4:3), yet, he himself is struggling to deal with the challenge he is facing. Some of these challenges go beyond us, like we see in Job’s. But we must never lose our heads, but rather keep trusting in God, irrespective of what people may say. Suffering and challenges does not always imply sinfulness. The righteous suffer too, but God never leaves them alone (Hebrews 13:5). God knows fully well what we go through.
Prayer: Father, you know all things, engrace me to trust in you for life.
