Bible Reading: Job 5-7; Acts 8:1-20
“Therefore, they that were scattered abroad went everywhere preaching the word” – Acts 8:4 (KJV).
After the death of Stephen, Christians in Jerusalem came under heavy persecution as men were stirred up against the church. Only the apostles remained, others were scattered all around the surrounding regions of Judea and Samaria. But even in that state they continued to spread the word wherever they found themselves.
The examples of the disciples must be noted and followed. The good news must be preached in every place irrespective of the situation that got us there. Jesus talked about the Kingdom even when He was on the cross (Luke 23:43). David still talked about God even when He was hiding in the caves. No wonder the men that came to meet him there later emerged as mighty men.
God’s ways are different from ours (Isaiah 55:8), His purpose will be carried out whether there be persecution or not. He is only looking for a man through whom He will show Himself strong, the circumstances notwithstanding. The church increased despite the heavy persecution.
No matter the challenge you are going through, make it a lifestyle to spread the word wherever you find yourself and God will back you up.
Action Point: Make it a duty to tell at least a person about Jesus today.
