Bible Reading: Job 8-10; Acts 8:21-40
“He is wise in heart, and mighty in strength: who hath hardened himself against Him, and hath prospered?” – Job 9:4 (KJV).
God is clearly the wisest; His creations attest to that. He is mighty in strength because without these might and strength the works we see today would not have been. We are privileged to have Him as a Father, yet, often times, we harden our heart against Him to our peril, even when His commands are for our good.
There are examples in scriptures of men who hardened their heart against God. King Pharaoh of Egypt experienced the full wrath of God when he refused to let the Isrealites go. King Saul, too, also lost his kingship when he hardened his heart against God. Hardening of the heart occurs when one continually refuses to follow God’s commands or instructions. His words came to Kings Pharoah and Saul repeatedly.
God still speaks to us everyday through his servants, His Spirit and by His word. Do not harden your heart by not following His commandments. His commandments are for our good, not for His. He is the I AM THAT I AM (Exodus 3:14). Our obedience or disobedience will not change Him in anyway.
Prayer: Father, I ask for grace to continually follow your instructions.
