“For what shall it profit a man , if he shall gain the whole world and lose his own soul”. Mark 8:36
There is so much emphasis placed on wealth these days that so many do all sorts of things to make money. We have people making pacts with demons in order to be wealthy, others have affairs with their bosses or head of human resources departments in order to secure promotion or gain employment. Yet some forged documents to defraud either organizations or individuals of their resources.
So many even make fake products in order to be wealthy. Some of these products like pharmaceuticals lead to disability or even death of those who take them while others lead to all sorts of other losses.
It appears most of us quickly lose the reason for our existence once we begin to play in the market place where so much emphasis is placed on money instead of relationship with our maker. We lose our bearing so quickly and forget that Eccl. 12:13 tells us that our duty on earth is to fear God, and keep his commandments.
When we do this, we will continuously remember that our soul is more important than anything else. That is why Mark 8:36 KJV states “For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?”
Prayer: Almighty God, please help me to focus on you at all times and remain committed to you even in my secular work in Jesus name.
