Bible Reading: Job 14-16; Acts 9:22-43
“Then had the churches rest throughout all Judea and Galilee and Samaria, and were edified; and walking in the fear of the Lord, and in the comfort of the Holy Ghost, were multiplied” – Acts 9:31 (KJV).
The early Christians were initially being persecuted chiefly by a man named Saul. God at His own time called Saul to where he belongs, and changed his name to Paul. The same people Paul had worked for in arresting Christians, were now against Him as he was now the most vocal of all Christians.
Christians are now the ones looking out for Paul, protecting him from being lynched. At a point he was let out of a city in a basket by the disciples (Acts 9:25). However, he still spoke out boldly wherever he went, incurring wrath from the Grecians. He was finally sent to Tarsus, his home town, and the disciples now had rest.
Gods ways are unfathomable. First he took Paul out of the opposite side, and the disciples may have thought they finally had a reprieve. But they found themselves very busy trying to keep the same Paul alive. His ways are higher than ours (Isaiah 55:8). The same way He gave the church rest throughout all Judea, Galilee and Samaria, He is giving you rest today on all sides.
Prayer: Father, I thank You for rest that only You can give.
