Bible Reading: Job 35-36; Acts 15:22-41
“If they obey and serve him, they shall spend their days in prosperity, and their years in pleasure” – Job 36:11 (KJV).
Serving God implies obeying and doing that which pleases Him and brings glory to His name. A lot of people claim to be serving God, but it goes beyond word of mouth. Romans 6:16 says, “Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey, whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?”
Adam yielded to the devil’s lies and became his servant. He brought the rewards of obeying the devil on himself and the human race. God, in His tender mercies, gave man the solution to the problem, “Thou shall serve the Lord thy God, and he shall bless thy bread, and thy water: and I will take sickness away from the midst of thee…the number of thy days I will fulfill” – Exodus 23:25-26 (KJV). The blessings of God is the cure for curses.
The blessings of God covers our bread and water (the food we eat), our health, nothing of ours will be lost, and it gives long life. Truly, the blessings adds no sorrow (Proverb 10:22). But it comes when we obey and serve God. A prosperous and satisfactory life comes from serving and obeying God. It starts by accepting Jesus as Lord and Saviour and consciously keeping and living out His word.
Prayer: Father, I ask for grace to serve you whole-heartedly for the rest of my life.
