Bible Reading: Psalm 148, 149, 150; 1 Corinthians 15:30-58
“Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the knowledge of God: I speak this to your shame” – 1 Corinthians 15:34 (KJV).
So many people lack the true knowledge of God. Knowing God is not just head knowledge but experiential knowledge. Although, many people know God as creator of all things but where such knowledge fails to translate to a vital relationship, it cannot be said that such people truly know God. To know God is to know his love and his nature.
True knowledge of God comes by revelation and understanding of his word. The Holy Spirit reveals God to people through the gospel or through encounter that births conviction in the heart of the person. It is one of the ministries of the Holy Spirit to reveal God to man. Such revelation leads to salvation and consequently a father-son relationship. Head knowledge through moral instruction or Christian religious study does not result in salvation. Knowing about God is different from knowing God as Lord and father. The gospel affords one the opportunity to truly experience God and to enter into father-son relationship. The gospel is the power of God unto salvation.
In all one’s knowing, one has got to know God. It is ultimate knowledge in life. Knowing God is knowing his son Jesus Christ. When you know God, you know his nature, his love, his life; righteousness and his power. Knowing God results in eternal life. “And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou has sent” – John 17:3 (KJV). Do you know God as father or only as a creator? Jesus came to reveal God to man. Knowing Jesus is knowing God because he is the express image of the invisible God.
PRAYER: Dear Lord, help my friends out there to know you on personal basis.
