Bible Reading: Proverb 6, 7; 2 Corinthians 2
“Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge in every place” – 2 Corinthians 2:14 (KJV).
New life in Christ is our access to victory in life. It guarantees victory over sin, over sickness, over Satan and his cohorts, victory over temptation, trials, poverty and death. Sinners cannot boast of true victory, theirs is life of struggle and defeat. The blood of Jesus and his death on the cross is our sure way to victory. The believer is able to overcome the corruption that is in the world as a result of being a partaker of God’s divine nature. The price that Jesus paid guarantees our victory.
When a sinner receives Jesus as Lord and saviour, the power of sin is broken and the righteousness of Christ is inputted. The Holy Spirit comes to indwell his heart to enable him live the Christ life. Life in this side of the divide is full of battles but there are as many victories as there are battles. Sin has no dominion over the believer in Christ. The word of God equips the believer with faith and grace needed to stand against every fiery darts of the devil. Prayer links the believer to the source of his victory. Our triumph is not about our skill or human strength “for the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds” – 2 Corinthians 10:4 (KJV).
Jesus conquered and disarmed Satan and gave the believer power over the devil. In Christ, victory is sure.
PRAYER: Dear Lord, thank you for the victory that is ours in Christ.
