Bible Reading: Proverb 10,11,12; 2 Corinthians 4
“In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them” – 2 Corinthians 4:4 (KJV).
There are two kind of blindness in the scripture. One is physical blindness and the other is spiritual blindness. These two types of blindness are bad. It makes the victims not to see and to truly appreciate the beauty of life. The one people can easily understand and relate to is physical blindness like that of blind Bartimeaus. Although physical blindness is bad and robs one of physical sight, spiritual blindness, however, is the worst type of blindness. One may have clarity of sight, with the ability to appreciate colour and beauty but may be spiritually blind and unable to see or appreciate spiritual realities. Anyone spiritually blind cannot relate to spiritual things and so is devoid of eternal life. Sight without vision of God is the worst kind of blindness.
Satan is the root cause of all forms of blindness. He deceived man resulting to spiritual blindness and other consequences of the fall of man like physical disorder, sickness, diseases, death and physical blindness. It was never the will of God that man he created in his own image should suffer either spiritual or physical blindness. Satan is the root cause; he has blinded the minds and hearts of those who do not believe so that the light of the glorious gospel of Christ will not reach them. Good news! Jesus heals all forms of blindness. He came to give sight to the blind. He restored sight not only to the physically blind but also to the spiritually blind.
As the light of the gospel shines in the minds and hearts of men, understanding is gained and direction received. The light of the gospel enables the fallen man to acknowledge his sins, to appreciate his inadequacies and to commit to God for salvation.
PRAYER: Thank you oh Lord for the restoration of sight through the gospel.
