Bible Reading: Proverb 13,14,15; 2 Corinthians 5
“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new” – 2 Corinthians 5:17 (KJV).
By virtue of the first birth, man is born into sin. We are first sinners by birth before we ever committed sin. One is first a sinner by nature before one becomes a sinner by practice. Sin is first a nature, the nature of Satan transferred into one’s account at birth. It is this sinful nature that man has to struggle with until the new birth in Christ. This makes the new birth expedient. One cannot overcome sin or Satan until one is born again. When one receives forgiveness and cleansing by the blood of Jesus, a new nature is imparted. This new nature makes one a new creation in Christ Jesus. The spirit of God (the Holy) comes in and helps the person to bear the fruit of godly character.
Jesus has become our righteousness, redemption and sanctification. “But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness and sanctification, and redemption” – 1 Corinthians 1:3 (KJV). The new creation has his sins forgiven, cleansed by the blood and the life of Christ. “Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust” – 2 Peter 1:3 (KJV).
The new creature in Christ has his past erased by the blood; he has eternal life in Christ. Old things have passed away and all things have become new. Old record of sin has been completely erased and forgiven and a new record begins with the initial deposit of the nature of Christ and the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. This new life can be enjoyed by the sinner who comes to Christ in repentance.
PRAYER: Thank you Lord for the new life in Christ.
