Bible Reading: Jeremiah 24,25 & 26; Titus 2.
“For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ.” – Titus 2:11-13 (KJV)
The world is fast becoming a place where the normal seems abnormal and the abnormal is generally accepted as that which is normal. The standard for holiness and right standing with God deviates daily as man seeks to manipulate these things to suit his desires. The word of the Lord and His standard however stands sure.
In verse 6 of Titus 2, Apostle Paul was telling Titus, to encourage the young men to live wisely by being an example to them and doing good works of every kind. That his life daily reflects the integrity and seriousness of his teaching so that his good does not become evil spoken thereof.
This brings to our understanding that as believers, as we teach, we have to do! The younger generation and the society at large looks up to us and imitates the things we do, our narrative form foundation upon which certain concepts are built.
In 1 Timothy 4:12, Paul was admonishing Timothy to be an example to believers in word, conduct, conversation, charity, in spirit, in faith and in purity. This shows that the Christian has a responsibility tied to his life. The life and conduct of a believer can be easily traceable to the scriptures, we have a backing. We have a mandate.
However, our memory verse is encouraging us that in these times of moral decadence and spiritual epilepsies, grace abounds for a believer to triumph over sin, and it is only achievable in Christ Jesus. This grace has appeared and has been made available for all men, not a select few or a particular denomination, all men. This grace will teach us to live and help us to conquer in this evil world.
Pray with this:
Philippians 1:9-10; I pray that your love will overflow more and more, and that you will keep on growing in knowledge and understanding.
For I want you to understand what really matters, so that you may live pure and blameless lives until the day of Christ’s return
