“And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out: it is better for thee to enter into the kingdom of God with one eye, than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire: – Mark 9:47 KJV
There is a woman that is close to my family that was diagnosed to have cancer of the breast over ten years ago. After all the diagnosis, it was observed that it had not spread to other parts of the body. She was then advised to do a surgical operation to remove the breast that was infected. This was promptly done. Since then, she has been living well. It is sad to note that the same woman lost her sister to breast cancer because she did not know on time and by the time she recognized it, things were already out of hand.
Sin in our lives is like cancer and the moment we recognize it’s presence, we need to remove it or take that portion of our life out. What does this imply for us, we need to do a regular ( every time) spiritual check up to know whether we are still on the side of God or out of line. Anything or anyone that brings us into sin should be dealt away with immediately. If you have a relationship that will cause you to commit fornication or adultery or stealing in whatever guise or sin against God, you need to severe that relationship. That part of your “eye” that is sinful should be plucked out. If it is a location, then you should stop going there.
That is why Jesus says in Mark 9:47 KJV “And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out: it is better for thee to enter into the kingdom of God with one eye, than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire:”
It is of note that such an action will usually be painful to the flesh. It’s like any surgical operation on the body, it is painful but better in the long run.
Prayer: Father, please give me the grace to live a life above sin at all times.
