Bible Reading: Jeremiah 32 & 33; Hebrews 1
“Call unto me and I will answer thee and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not” – Jeremiah 33:3
We have all at one time or the other called on people and sometimes they have answered and at other times, they have not. The remarkable reality is that some of the people who have in the past asked us to call them when a certain situation arises have been called and they have not answered. The story was told of Chinedu who was asked by his uncle to call him immediately he graduates but when he was called, he refused to pick Chinedu’s calls. This is the sad reality with men!
It so happens that many times in our relationship with God, we project this failed reality to God and think that when we call on Him in prayer that he will not answer. This is not true at all. God is nothing like the people who we have had disappoint us. He is God, He is not a man. If he says something, he does it.
In the above scripture, God boldly says “Call unto me and I will answer you…” He says this at a time of great hardship for the people of Israel. It was a time when many would have thought that God no longer answers, when many had given up hope. He reminds the prophet Jeremiah to tell the people that He will answer.
We must give diligence to Calling on God. It may seem sometimes like He is not answering, but as we have seen, He has said it Himself that He will answer.
Prayer: Lord, grant me grace never to be tired of calling on You no matter how long it takes for my answer to come in Jesus Christ name.
