Bible Reading: Jeremiah 46 & 47; Hebrews 6
“Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savor, wherewith shall it be salted?…” – Matthew 5:13 (KJV)
There is a maxim which says, the largest room in the world is the room for change. As truthful as this appears, many people are always afraid of change either because of what they have once witnessed which is not palatable or because the sponsorer of change itself whose life does not correspond to what he/she is propagating. This is a sad testimony of quite a number of people in the world. They often say, “Do as I say and do not do as I do.”
Jesus Christ called to the mountain those disciples He believed would represent Him well in this perverse generation. As he began to teach them he let them know the type of substance they carried, salt. Why did Jesus Christ liken His followers to salt? This possible answer is seen in the characteristics of the salt which are:
(1) salt preserves
(2) salt sweetens etc.
Every child of God is meant to preserve God’s heritage that has been passed on to him. Are you preserving the heritage of God or you are tearing it down? Are you always making yourself available to sweeten the sour life around you or you are always adding to their bitter experience? If your response to the above is yes, then, you are yet to act out what Christ made you to be. Change and start doing the ideal you were created for else you shall be trampled under feet. Christ does not have any pleasure in wasted investment.
So, wherever, you are, you are encouraged to be the agent of transformation who is adding value to the society and not agent of destruction.
Prayer: Almighty Father, I desire to remain the salt of the earth as long as I live in Jesus name.
