Bible Reading: Jeremiah 48 & 49; Hebrews 7
“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven” – Matthew 5:16 (KJV).
The importance of light in the life of man cannot be overemphasized, Light was called out in Genesis to silence the activity of darkness that wanted to dominate the world at that time. “And God said, Let there be light: and there was light” Genesis 1:3 (KJV). It is so useful that even Christ our Lord admonished people to walk in His light while they have it around them.
Christ as an agent of change called for people to walk in the light He has provided for them. This is the same thing He passed on to His disciples when He was teaching them on the mountain. The Lord clearly stated to the disciples that for the world to get out of her dark activities, they must keep their light in a proper place. As light, dark activity must be exposed. Paul alluded to this when he said: “And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them. For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret. But all things are made manifest by the light for whatsoever doth make manifest is light” – Ephesians 5:11-13 (KJV).
It is unfortunate today that many Christians who are meant to shine in their schools, place of work, neighbourhoods have constantly kept their light away from bringing positive change to the society. Partly because of the way they conduct themselves and majorly because they are really not interested in bringing many sons and daughters to righteousness. I encourage you today, to turn a new leaf and take your light out of the bushel, set it on the hill and allow men and women to see it for our Father to take His due glory. Keep your light shining and be decisive about taking away anything that will keep it under the bushel. You are meant to shine to effect a change in this dark world. Never let God down.
Prayer: God who called forth light, please never allow my light to go dim in this dark world in Jesus name.
