Bible Reading: Lamentations 3, 4, 5; Heb.10:20-39
“This I recall to mind, therefore have I hope. It is of the LORD’S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassion fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness” – Lamentations 3:21-23 (KJV)
When one is overwhelmed by the circumstances of life, when bitterness and sorrow become the daily experience, at such time, it may be extremely difficult to call to mind the aspect of the Lord called mercy. Jeremiah, who was lamenting the ordeal that befell his people as result of the heavy blow of the LORD upon them refused to let go the mercy which could still spare even in the midst of punishment from the LORD.
He probably remembered what happened during the days of Noah when God wiped out the entire human race yet Noah and his household were saved. He also possibly recalled to mind the days of Sodom and Gomorrah that Lot and his family were also kept by mercy. All these he recalled to mind and welled up hope within him. He thus exclaimed: “It is because of the Lord’s mercy and loving kindness that we are not consumed because His tender compassion fail not. They are new every morning, great and abundant is Your stability and faithfulness” Lam. 3:22-23 (Amp)
Are you also going through a particular situation where you are pressed? I encouraged to call to mind this nature of our eternal God- mercy. Never trade it for anything even when you are hard pressed. His word aptly states that, “So then He has mercy on whomever He wills (chooses)…” Rom. 9:18a (Amp). May the mercy of GOD speak for you in the midst of all situation of life in Jesus name.
Prayer: Oh Lord, help me to enjoy Your mercy in my life in Jesus name.
