Bible Reading: Ezekiel 5, 6, 7; Hebrews 12
“Thus says the LORD GOD: This is Jerusalem; I have set her in the midst of the nations and the countries all around her. She has rebelled against My judgments by doing wickedness more than the nations, and against My statues more than the countries that are all around her; for they refused My judgment and they have not walked in My statues. Therefore thus says the Lord GOD because you have multiplied disobedience more than the nations that are all around you, have not walked in My statues nor kept My judgment of the nations that are all around you- therefore thus says the Lord GOD: indeed I, even I, am against you and will execute judgments in your midst in the sight of all nations” – Ezekiel 5:5-8 (NKJV)
Whenever the chick refuses to maintain the circumference of the reach of the mother hen, it risks the risk of becoming a prey for the hawks. Our God has boundary of operation for every child of His and He wants us to maintain it. In the event we go out of that line, we stand the chance of Him wielding His hammer of punishment on us. Prophet Ezekiel brought the word to Jerusalem whom God set in the midst of all nations as a symbol of His pride, yet not without specific instructions to follow, but they missed the opportunity by delving into other things and this infuriated God.
The disgusting testimony that God gave about Jerusalem is the same with a lot of people today, God has raised them up for His glory yet they keep walking against the judgment of God and thus multiplying disobedience before God. Just as Jerusalem did not escape the judgment of God, anyone who fails to maintain the statute of God shall not either. God said to them: “I, even I, am against you and will execute judgments in your midst in the sight of all nations” Ezekiel 5:8. What could make us escape it is when we keep within the set line of God. “You rebuke the proud and arrogant the accursed ones, who err and wander from Your commandments” – Psalm 119:21 (Amp)
We can turn this judgment away when we have a burning longing for the commandments of the Lord always. The Psalmist says: “My heart is breaking with longing that it has for Your ordinances and judgments at all times.” – Psalm 119:20 (Amp)
Prayer: Mighty Father, release grace to keep within the line on me in Jesus name.
