Bible Reading: Ezekiel 27, 28, 29; 1 Peter 3
“Who in the days of his flesh, when he had offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears unto him that was able to save him from death” – Hebrew 5:7 (KJV)
I often wondered what Jesus was always praying about whenever He ‘escaped’ from the crowd. It occurred so often I was always left wondering. He was perfect, He had it all, what was there to pray about? May be you have wondered so as well that Jesus prayed too much for someone with so little “Problems”. Well, it seems this scripture puts in perspective why He did.
From here we can see that Jesus offered prayers consistently as the righteous King to God who could rescue Him from death. We could argue that He wanted to be saved from literally dying or for the saving of His soul. While I tilt towards the latter, it is important that Jesus was consistently praying to God to be saved from death and God heard Him!
We all want the same result that Jesus had with His life, He fulfilled God’s purpose for His life, He was tempted yet He did not sin and He died and resurrected. If we would get the same result, we must apply the same principle, we must pray like He did! You can live without sin, you can stop this falling and rising that has become natural with your faith.
The passage ends by saying that God heard Him because of His reverent fear. We too must pray earnestly with reverence to Him who can save us from death and I am certain that He would hear us. Apostle Peter says: For the eyes of the Lord are upon the righteous (for those who are upright and in right standing with God), and His ears are attentive to their prayer. But the face of the Lord is against those who practice evil (to oppose them, to frustrate, and defeat them) – 1 Peter 2:12 (Amp).
Prayer: Oh Lord, I receive the grace to be in right standing with You for my prayers not to be hindered in Jesus name.
