Bible Reading: Obadiah 1; Revelation 9.
“But upon mount Zion shall be deliverance, and there shall be holiness; and the house of Jacob shall possess their possessions.” – Obadiah 1:17 (KJVS).
Mount Zion represents the church of God, so everyone who gives his life to Christ shall experience deliverance. Such deliverance covers a wide area. It involves deliverance from the law. Romans 8:1 (KJVS) says, “There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.” So whenever you accept Jesus as your lord and saviour, you are no longer bound by the law of sin and death as all your sins are forgiven. Not only that but your eyes of understanding are opened, you are turned from darkness to light as you are delivered from the power of Satan. This is succinctly stated by the Lord Jesus Christ in Acts 26:18 (KJVS), “To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.”
However a number of people are still held bound in various forms of captivity after they have given their lives to Christ. Sicknesses, fear, sorrow, failure still hold them in captivity inspite of the promise from the creator. The key to attain deliverance is rooted in knowledge of the word of God. So you need to study the word, not by mere reading, but seeking the face of God and asking for revelation as you go through the word. This way, inspirations of the Holy Spirit will reveal some hidden meanings to you. This is how light shines on people and their circumstances.
If you are facing any challenge right now, you need to study the word of God relating to your circumstance and meditatively pray for revelation on the word. Several years ago, I needed to leave my job and start a business of my own. So I committed it to God’s hands and then he opened my eyes to an opportunity and I was able to start a new business based on that revelation. Though on the face of it, it appeared it was not a good decision but then by the time I went through it, it was the best thing that could have happened to me at the time.
However, one underlying fact behind deliverance is stated in our memory verse; Obadiah 1:17 (KJVS), “But upon mount Zion shall be deliverance, and there shall be holiness; and the house of Jacob shall possess their possessions.” Holiness , which simply means obedience to Gods word, is the key to deliverance and sufficiency. If you have challenges in any area as a true child of God, check your obedience to Him. If that is in place, you can be sure that you will get answers to your requests from God.

Check your life to ascertain areas of disobedience to the word of God and make amends immediately.
