Bible Reading: Micah 4,5; Revelation 12
“And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.” – Revelation 12:11 (KJVS)
Testimony is evidence or proof of something. In law, it is a form of evidence that is obtained from a witness who makes a solemn statement or declaration of fact. As children of God, your testimony is similar as it is a recollection of what God has done for you or someone else. In Matthew 8:1-4, a leper came to Jesus asking to be clean. Jesus touched him and he was healed. But the Lord told him that he should show himself to the priest and offer the gift required of him by the law of Moses as a testimony to other!
So Jesus encouraged him and others to give testimony. This would make known the work of God in the lives of his children, encourage others in their faith and help to seal that testimony as it would make the testifier overcome Satan. Revelation 12:11 (KJVS) says, “And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.” So recollecting what God has done for you is so important in the life of a child of God as it helps to further strengthen the faith of others as well as yours in God.
If you can overcome Satan by the word of your testimony, then there must be more to testimony than just recollecting what had been done. It is affirmation of the authority of God over every situation and circumstance. To get more from this affirmation, Proverbs 18:21 (KJVS) says, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.” How do you then use more of the life in your tongue to eat the fruit thereby? This we can learn from the utterances of the Shunammite in 2 Kings 4:8-37, where the woman’s only son died and when asked about her condition, she said, it shall be well ( 2 Kings 4:23) and by the time she got to the house of Elisha, she said, it is well (2 Kings 4:26). And at the end, it was well with her.
What do you say about your situation? You can give a life testimony or a death testimony about it based on your utterance. Your testimony is not only about what has happened but also and more importantly, what will happen. Create a positive testimony for your future by your utterances.
Action Plan:
Review your present situation and utter your desire on the situations and stick to the testimony.
