Bible Reading: Genesis 18,19,20; Matthew 6:18-34
“Look unto Abraham your father…..” – Isaiah 51:2 (KJV)
There are so many things we can learn from Abraham that if followed diligently, by God’s grace, will bring proofs that will bring God glory in our lives. God spoke in Genesis 18:19 (KJV), “For I know him, that he will command his children and his household after him, and they shall keep the way of the LORD, to do justice and judgement..” As the head of the house, Abraham kept the ways of the LORD, he did not just teach them theoretically, but showed it practically for all his household to see and learn.
Children tend to reflect, to a large extent, what they see their parents teach and do. The “doing” being more important. So many children today are confused because they get taught one thing and see their parents doing another. In the long run, anything goes. No real family values. Proverbs 22:6 (KJV), “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, He will not depart from it.” God was so sure of Abraham’s unborn children because of his consistent walk with Him.
Abraham was an intercessor too. He interceded for the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah. He asked the LORD, “…Wilt thou also destroy the righteous with the wicked?” – Genesis 18:23 (KJV). Jesus is still interceding for us today in heaven (Romans 8:34), and he wants believers on earth to enforce God’s will on earth by connecting with heaven in interceding for others like Abraham did.
God so loved Abraham He called him His friend (Isaiah 41:8). Friends don’t hide things from each other (John 15:15). God could not hide His plan of action on Sodom and Gomorrah from Abraham (Genesis 18:17). As you follow Abraham’s examples you will begin to know God’s ways and see His acts in your life.
Action Plan: List out the works of Abraham from the past three days and sincerely ask for God’s help in that area you know you are not getting it right.
