Bible Reading: Genesis 33,34,35; Matthew 10:1-21
“And God said unto him, I am God Almighty: be fruitful and multiply; a nation and a company of nations shall be of thee, and kings shall come out of thy loins; – Genesis 35:11 (KJV)
God’s plan and purpose for man has not changed. His thoughts for man has always and will always be for good till we get to that expected end that He has lined up for us. Among His purpose for man on earth is Fruitfulness. He ordained man to be fruitful in Genesis 1:22 (KJV), “And God blessed them, saying, Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let fowl multiply in the earth.” He repeated it to Jacob again in the memory verse above.
“Be” is a not a suggestion; it is a demand on potential. It is a command or programme. It is the number one obligation of a human being. Fruitfulness or productivity is not about birth only. In fact most of the populated countries feed less. Fruitfulness in scriptures includes:
1) The Fruit of the womb. This is prolific in Africa. Children are gifts from God (Psalm 127:3)
2) The Fruit of Thoughts (ideas). God says He will bring our ideas upon us (Jeremiah 6:19). You are a reflection of your thoughts (Proverbs 23:7).
3) Fruit of the mouth . A man’s belly shall be satisfied from the fruits of his mouth (Proverbs 18:20-21). And out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.
4) Fruit of the hands (Proverbs 31:31). My hand includes anything that carries out the expression of my ideas to implement them.
5) Fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23). Has to do with character, good name and reputation.
We are wired and expected to be fruitful. Jesus cursed that barren tree (Mark 11:12-21). An unfruitful tree defies God’s idea. He is displeased with unproductivity. An unproductive servant was termed “wicked” by His master (Matthew 25:25-27). God has finished His work. It’s now time for you to work and be fruitful.
Action Plan: Make a decision today to improve in any area you may have been unfruitful. Be deliberate in your actions towards fruitfulness.
