BIBLE READING: EXODUS 27,28; Mathew. 21: 1-23
“Go into the village over against you, and straightway ye shall find and ass tied, and a colt with her: loose them, and bring them unto me. And if any man say ought unto you, ye shall say, The Lord hath need of them; and straightway he will send them” – Matthew. 21:2-3 (KJV).
The above scripture is the account of the triumphant entry of Jesus into Jerusalem. It has a present significance in the lives of believers. God does not always call idle people. Most time he calls people who are gainfully employed or fully engaged in the pursuit of career or business. The reason being that idleness is not God’s plan for our lives. The word of God emphatically says that those who do not work should not eat. “For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work neither should he eat” – 2 Thessalonians 3:10 (KJV).
So we see that in life, a lot of things place demand on our life, our energy and on our resources. In our considerations, God must be given priority. We should understand that our lives, time, money and energy are first to be used for God and the advancement of his kingdom. When one understands this, one stops living for self and starts living for God, knowing that the Lord has need of him.
It must be clear to us that the needs of God and the kingdom must be prioritized in our lives as Christians. The world beckons, friends, colleagues relations all beckons on us. Pleasure fun and mundane activities all beckon on us but let it be clear that the Lord has need of us.
