BIBLE READING: Numbers 12,13,14; Mark 5:23-43
“And Caleb stilled the people before Moses, and Said, Let us go up at once, and possess it: for we are well able to overcome it” – Numbers 13:30 (KJV).
Our mind set to a large extent affects everything we do. While positive mindset empowers us in our pursuits, negative mindset tends to weaken our drive and pursuit in life. Negative mindset is accepting or settling for defeat or failure even before beginning. We are a product of our thought life. “For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he: Eat and drink, saith he to thee; but his heart is not with thee” – Proverb 23:7 (KJV).
The spies that Moses sent to spy out the promise land came back with two different mindsets. While the rest of the spies brought back negative and evil report, Caleb and Joshua brought back good and positive reports. They all saw the same things but while the people focused on the problems and challenges, Joshua and Caleb focused on the prospects and possibilities. The other spies focused on the giants but Joshua and Caleb focused on the fruit, the promises of God and the ability of God to deliver them.
The outcome was obvious, negative mindset led to the people ending their journey and dying as grasshoppers in the wilderness, while positive mindset saw Joshua and Caleb inheriting the promise by entering the land of Canaan. The scriptures makes it clear that all things are possible to everyone that believes.
As we focus on God, and his promises, our mind is renewed to believe him for victory in all things.
Prayer: Dear Lord, help me to focus on you and your word.
