BIBLE READING: Numbers 17,18,19; Mark 6:29-56
“And Jesus, when he came out, saw much people, and was moved with compassion toward them, because they were as sheep not having a shepherd; and he began to teach them many things.” – Mark 6:34 (KJV).
We serve a compassionate God. It was his passion for the lost world that made God to send his one and only begotten son to the world to die for man. “For God so love the world. that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life “John 3:16 (KJV).
It was the same passion that compelled Jesus to lay down his life for the lost man. He came to seek and to save the lost. This mission was the compelling force that controlled everything he did on earth. Nothing else mattered to him compared to the salvation of the lost man. Notice that Jesus called the disciples apart to rest from the tight schedules and pressured mounted on him by the crowd that characterized all his outings. As important as leisure and this rest was to their health and physical well being, Jesus could not be comfort or pleasure driven. The demands of the gospel of salvation compelled him. When he saw the lost state of the multitude as sheep wandering without shepherd, he abandoned the leisure because he was moved with compassion towards them. The crowd invaded his privacy but he didn’t mind because he was so passionate about salvation of souls.
What drives your life? What are you passionate for?Who or what stirs your passion? Is it God, the Kingdom project, material things or carnal things?
Prayer: Oh God, give me passion for You and for the lost souls out there.
