Bible Reading: 1 Samuel 4, 5, 6, Luke 9:1-20.
“Then he called his twelve disciples together, and gave them power and authority over all devils, and to cure diseases” – Luke 9:1 (KJVS).
God has given us, the believers, authority over all devils and to cure diseases. However we require faith to use that authority. As a born again child of God, you are like a heir to a rich man who issued you a blank cheque. Since the cheque is signed with your name on it, all you need is to put the amount you need and take to the bank for withdrawal. However if you keep the cheque in a safe without taking it to the bank, you can never gain access to the money. The same way as Christians, you need to exercise your faith to be able to draw on your account in heaven. In deed, all that is required is stated in Matthew 7:7 (KJVS), “Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:”
Several years ago, I was an unordained minister in a Pentecostal church in Nigeria and a woman came to the church with a serious headache looking for the pastor to pray for her. Unfortunately, the pastor was not around and she needed prayer, so she came to me. At that time, nobody had come to me individually for healing prayer before then. Nonetheless, I prayed a simple prayer for her and the following Sunday, she came and gave a testimony of how she was relieved of the pain.
Just as the lady was healed of headache, you, as a believer can also pray for anyone or even yourself and receive healing of any disease. Jesus Christ, the author and finisher of our faith says in our memory verse today: “Then he called his twelve disciples together, and gave them power and authority over all devils, and to cure diseases” – Luke 9:1 (KJVS). However, there are conditions for this to hold. You must have accepted Jesus as your Lord and Saviour, believe that you can heal the sick in the name of Jesus and ensure that you spend time with God studying his word, praising him and praying to him. Finally, you must obey his words by living holy. In all cases of healing, you must remember that it is not by your power but by the authority of Jesus Christ.
Our God is jealous and does not share his glory with anyone. So always return the glory of healing to Him and Him alone and He will use you mightily for exploits. If you are suffering from any ailment, I pray for you today that such sickness or disease be uprooted from your body now in the name of Jesus Christ.
Action Point: Pray for healing in the name of Jesus, for someone today and be ready to share the testimony in your place of worship.
