Bible Reading: 1 Samuel 15, 16, Luke 10:22-42.
“And Samuel said, How can I go? if Saul hear it , he will kill me. And the Lord said, Take an heifer with thee, and say, I am come to sacrifice to the Lord” – 1 Samuel 16:2 (KJVS)
Whatever God says he will do, he will do it no matter how difficult or impossible it seems. Thus at a time in Israel, there was such a huge recession that women were killing their children for food as stated in 2 Kings 6:26-29. It was in this situation that God said through his prophet, Elisha, that there would be so much abundance within twenty four hours after that incident. This is stated in 2 Kings 7:1 (KJVS), “Then Elisha said, Hear ye the word of the LORD; Thus saith the LORD , Tomorrow about this time shall a measure of fine flour be sold for a shekel, and two measures of barley for a shekel, in the gate of Samaria.” The chief of staff to the king who knew the economic situation of Samaria then said that if God opened the windows of heaven, the word of Elisha could not come to pass. However what seems impossible to men is possible with God. Thus, in twenty four hours indeed, there was abundance in Israel!
God requires His children to trust Him that whatever He says He will do, He will do! Thus in 1 Samuel 16:1 (KJVS), God told Samuel that he should go and anoint a new king while there was a sitting king in Israel! Even the prophet was afraid and he asked God how can he do it? Hear him in 1 Samuel 16:2 (KJVS), “And Samuel said, How can I go? if Saul hear it , he will kill me. And the Lord said, Take an heifer with thee, and say, I am come to sacrifice to the Lord”.
Despite the difficult situation that could lead to the loss of his life, Samuel trusted the Lord and went ahead with God’s instructions. And true to his word, God directed him all through the process such that he was able to do what God asked him to do and nothing happened to him. What is God asking you to do that you consider too difficult, all you need to do is to ask Him to instruct you on how to go about it and trust Him. He will show you that His words will never fall on the ground.
Similarly if you are waiting on God for what He has promised and it appears it is not coming, please exercise patience and have confidence in Him that He will do what he has promised. In 2 Peter 3:8 (KJVS) the scripture says, “But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.” God’s time is the best as he knows all situations and circumstances and so takes his decision based on the truth whereas you, as a human being, is limited.
Prayer: Father, please make a way for me concerning (mention the event or issue) in the name of Jesus.
