Bible Reading: 1 Samuel 19,20,21; Luke 11:28-54.
“And I will go out and stand beside my father in the field where thou art , and I will commune with my father of thee; and what I see, that I will tell thee.” – 1 Samuel 19:3 (KJVS).
Commune means sharing one’s intimate thoughts or feelings with someone especially on a spiritual level. A father is expected to share intimate thoughts with his child as a way of guiding him. A true father will commune regularly with his child to have a good understanding of his behaviour and thus identify how best to guide him. This is what Jonathan promised to do with his father, Saul in order to find details of his personal thoughts on David. Thus he said in 1 Samuel 19:3 (KJVS), “And I will go out and stand beside my father in the field where thou art , and I will commune with my father of thee; and what I see, that I will tell thee”.
This is done to get intimate details or secrets that may not otherwise be available to the public.
This was the case in Daniel 2:1-19, when Nebuchadnezzar dreamt a dream and he forgot it and he asked the magicians to tell him the dream and the interpretation. None of them could but Daniel asked for time to commune with God and get the details. He was granted the time and he asked for the secret from God and everything was revealed to him. Thus he was able to save his life and those of his fellows as the king had promised to kill all his advisers if they could not tell him his dream.
If you can also tarry in the presence of God, several secrets would be revealed to you and you will be in an advantaged position. Several years ago, I was a divisional director of a commercial bank when the bank had a serious issue on its foreign exchange transactions with the CBN and it became a major challenge as it appeared CBN was going to withdraw our banking license. Then I had an offer from another bank through one of our ex-staff. However I decided to commune with God, my father. After a few days, God spoke to me and asked me not to leave my job then and that the problem was going to be over in June that year. I obeyed and the problem was over, I was promoted and the bank that I would have gone to was acquired by my commercial bank!
There is need to regularly commune with God, our father to seek for information on any issue confronting you and He will answer as long as you are serving Him in truth. He says in Jeremiah 33:3 (KJVS), “Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.” Whatever challenge you are going through, please communicate with God and He will show you how to go about your situation.
Action Point: Take your challenge to God asking him to reveal to you what you should do.
