And the second time the cock crew. And Peter called to mind the word that Jesus said unto him, Before the cock crow twice, thou shalt deny me thrice. And when he thought thereon, he wept. – Mark 14:72 KJV
When ministerial nominees by President Buhari of Nigeria were being scrutinized, one of them, a former governor of Lagos state, Raji FASHOLA in response to questions on his loyalty to his godfather, said May our loyalty never be tested. He tried to explain how difficult loyalty could be.
This is what happened immediately after Jesus was arrested. Peter was accused of having a relationship with Christ. He denied any relationship with him three times!
When You read this, what do you think of Peter? A weakling? Well we do more than this whenever we do not obey the word of God. Every time you tell a lie, commit fornication or adultery, steal, take bribe or commit any sin, you are denying Jesus. And anyone who denies Jesus now would be denied by Jesus in heaven. This further implies that our loyalty to Jesus is being put to test. Mark 14:72 KJV “And the second time the cock crew. And Peter called to mind the word that Jesus said unto him, Before the cock crow twice, thou shalt deny me thrice. And when he thought thereon, he wept.”
Sometime ago a missionary went to an African country for evangelism. After ministering to some villagers, she was told there were others in a nearby village but nobody could go there because there were a lot of wild animals on the road and they could kill anyone that passes through the road that led to the other village. Well the lady evangelist insisted she would go. There and then an old man said he would go with her. The question was asked on how he would be able to protect the woman given his own age and fragility. His response was quite intriguing. He said, he would lead the way so that whatever animal was hungry would kill him but will let the evangelist go as it would be busy with his dead body! What loyalty could be more than this?
How loyal are you to Christ? May God give you a heart of flesh to serve the Lord.
Prayer: Father, whatever would make me deny The Lord Jesus, take it far away from me.
