…Spreading the gospel of Christ

Bible Reading: 2 Kings 24, 25; John 5:1-24

“The impotent man answered him, Sir, I have no man, when the water is troubled, to put me into the pool: but while I am coming, another steppeth down before me.” – John 5:7 (KJV)

The life of man is full of many troubles. We know this because the challenge actually started from the first chapter of the book of Genesis. However, God came into the situation to rescue when he said “Let there be light and there was light” – Gen.1:3 (KJV). Man has never been left without myriad of seemingly impossible situations which only God has solution to.

The man at the pool of Bethesda had been writhing in this excruciating pain for a very long time, but only when the angel of God comes to stir the water and the first person to step into the water got healed. The trouble of this man, whose name was not disclosed by the Scripture, was too much that even his relatives left him at the pool. He was there for good thirty-eight years. His situation was so grievous that it attracted the attention of Christ. The Scripture states: “When Jesus saw him and knew he had been ill for a long time, he asked him, would you like to get well?” John 5:6 (NLT).

The conversation continued till the man said to Christ, I have no man. The confession of this man is similar to what many of us always admit when we are confronted with life threatening issues. We are quick to say, I have no man. How could you have the Son of God around you and you confess, you have no man? Many of us do allow our painful situation to becloud us to the extent that even when the helper arrives, we do not see.

Enough! Let it no longer be heard from you that you have no man. You have the Man of Galilee around you who is willing to address your noisome situation. Stop and listen to Him now. He is the Man with bundle of solutions to give to your disturbing circumstance.

Prayer: Lord, open my eyes to Your presence around me when I am in dire need of solution.
