Bible Reading: 2 Chronicles 15 &16; John 12:26-50
“And all Judah rejoiced at the oath: for they had sworn with all their heart, and sought him with their whole desire; and he was found of them: and the LORD gave them rest round about” 2 Chronicles 15:15 (KJV).
Our above scriptural verse reveals God’s characteristics in dealing with His people. When we seek after God with all our heart the result is peace sublime which, in this passage, is referred to as “rest round about“. God is not a man to be carried away by our outward show, He is not limited to what we see but can easily see the heart of man. Because the people sought Him with all their heart He gave them peace. Peace is a product of righteousness, hence the bible says in Isaiah 32:17 (KJV) “And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.” Taking an oath with God with all your heart and seeking after Him with all your heart’s desire is tantamount to a lifestyle of righteousness. No wonder the scripture said: “and He was found of them”. By this act they inherited God’s promise which says in Isaiah 32:18 (KJV) “And my people shall dwell in a peaceable habitation, and in sure dwellings, in quiet resting places;”
When we make serving God with all our heart our life style we cannot escape God’s eyes from identifying and placing His seal of protection and defence on us. The scripture in 2 Chronicles 16:9a (KJV) states “For the eye of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to shew himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect towards him…”
Accepting Christ into our life as our personal Lord and Saviour puts us under God’s umbrella of righteousness thereby entitling us to live peacefully and under divine coverage. 2 Corinthians 5:21 reveals that we have been endowed with God’s righteousness by divine exchange at Calvary. If we make God, which is our refuge, our habitation there shall no evil befall us, neither shall any plague come near our dwelling places.
If you are reading through this devotional and you have not submitted your whole being to Jesus Christ this is an opportunity to do so today so you can be guaranteed of divine coverage.
Prayer: Father grant me the grace to make serving you, with my whole heart and desire, a lifestyle.
