Bible Reading: Job 22, 23 & 24; Acts 11
“Does your doing right benefit God, or does your being good help him at all?” Job 22:3 (GNB)
The Bible was given to us by God, our Creator, to use and follow as a manual for life. So many experiences, as contained in the bible, openly points to the benefits of serving God in truth and in deed. In fact, Paul said in Romans 15:4a, “For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning..”
We learned that serving God brings Divine presence. Jesus said in John 8:29 (KJV), ” And he that sent me is with me: the Father hath not left me alone; for I do always those things that please him.” Divine guidance, peace that surpasseth all understanding, breakthroughs on all sides, amongst others are some of the benefits we get from serving Him. Our character also becomes moulded after that of His Son, Jesus, as we begin to manifest the fruits of the Spirit. But how does God feel when you serve Him faithfully?
Just like an earthly father will be proud and happy if his son is growing up well, God, too, is happy to see us serving Him faithfully. He asked Satan, “Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and upright man, one that feareth God and escheweth evil?” Job 1:8 (KJV). God, the Almighty, was proud of Job! You too can make God proud. Why is God proud?
Every manufacturer will be proud when his product is functioning well. God is proud because His product or master piece is functioning well. Moreso, God will be able, as we serve Him faithfully like Job, to make a reply to his critics (Satan and his angels). Proverbs 27:11 (NLT), says, “Be wise, my child, and make my heart glad. Then I will be able to answer my critics.”
You can only serve God wisely by coming to His Son, Jesus Christ, and keeping your eyes on Him and following His example.
Prayer: Father, I thank You for the privilege of serving you. Thank You for the grace to serve You like Your Son, Jesus Christ.
