Bible Reading: Job 28 & 29; Acts 13:1-26
“… for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I Will repay, saith the Lord” Romans 12:19b (KJV)
A lot of people are still being held down by the devil because they have not made the decision to serve God. Whenever a person or a people decides to serve Him, He comes to the aid of suchlike ones. He demonstrated this many times in the bible, and He is still the same (Hebrews 13:8). But remember, He has always been there looking for people who are ready to serve Him.
When the Israelites made up their minds to go and worship God, He sent Moses to Pharoah, saying, “…Let my son go, that he may serve me: and if thou refuse to let him go, behold, I will slay thy son, even thy firstborn” Exodus 4:23 (KJV). He brought down plagues upon the Egyptians through Moses just so that Israel could go free and worship Him. But Pharoah refused. It was only when God decided to destroy Pharoah and His army in the Red Sea that Israel became free (Exodus 14:28).
In today’s bible reading, Sergius Paulus, a deputy (Governor) in Paphos, invited Paul and Barnabas so he could hear the Word of God. “But Elymas, the sorcerer, who had attached himself to the governor, interfered and urged the governor to pay no attention to what Barnabas and Saul said. He was trying to keep the governor from believing” Acts 13: 8 (NLT). But Paul filled with the Holy Ghost, pronounced judgement on Him, ” You son of the devil, full of every sort of deceit and fraud, and enemy of all that is good! Will you never stop perverting the true ways o the Lord? Watch one, for the Lord has laid His Hand of punishment upon you, and you will be struck blind. You will not see sunlight for some time…” Acts 13:10-11 (NLT)
God has not changed. His vengeance will always come upon the enemies of righteousness. The same way HE came down hard on Pharoah and the Egyptians, the same way He came down on Elymas. But first, you have to make up your mind to let God into your life, like Sergius Paulus, and the Israelites in Egypt, did. Only then can God set you free from the hands of the enemy.
Action Plan: Make up your mind to serve God in truth and in deed, and watch as He fights your battles for you.
